Botanical Body Art

“I have always loved gardens and enjoy spending time surrounded by nature, the changing colours of the seasons always inspire me to paint.

I attended a two-year decorative arts course, and spent time studying Liberty flower prints. I was fascinated with the way the silk fabrics would drape and create movement. I also attended botanical art classes for a year and learned a bit about the scientific study of plants and flowers.

Having been involved with face and body art painting for many years, my style of painting has changed dramatically; moving from detailed careful paintings to a quicker flowing natural brush strokes, letting the paint and brush work freely. I found I was recreating something of the beautiful flower silk scarves and fabrics I liked as well as influenced by the natural world around me. I discovered that this form of art worked very well on skin, making an organic, colourful flower designs on the body.

Botanical body art looks great as necklaces or on arms and legs. Adding cosmetic quality glitter makes a stunning statement for a special evening out, an unusual gift or for a photo shoot.

Most of the paintings take around half an hour to one hour and I have been told it’s a very relaxing experience .  The paint is cosmetic quality approved by EEC for cosmetic use. The design can be sealed with theatrical spray sealant and can be washed off easily with soap and water.
